Meet Susie White
A Pittsburgh native raised in Montgomery, Susie White, Alfa Insurance’s manager of employee relations, loves all things Alabama football, 70s music and has a soft spot for overweight senior cats. She also loves to travel.
“Where to next?” is Susie’s favorite quote. She’s always planning her next adventure and has been to Disney World 25 times and counting. While this attitude applies to her love of travel – she’s been content in the same workplace for 28 years. Susie’s career at Alfa® started in the home office with the Internal Audit department. Five years later, she found her passion in Human Resources. “I love, love, love Employee Relations and working with our employees and supervisors,” Susie shares, “No two days are the same, and there’s never a dull moment.”
Dull moments are not frequent in her personal life either. When Susie is not working, she’s traveling and pursuing her goal to run a marathon on all 7 continents – a goal she set when she took up long-distance running at age 40. She has already run on five continents and will be tackling Europe with a marathon in Rome this year. That leaves South America, next!
Susie says, “Through these travel experiences, I’ve been able to enjoy some interesting adventures - like swimming with great white sharks, diving with African crocodiles and bungy jumping. But, by far, the favorite parts of each passport stamp I get are the people I meet, and the memories made.”
And it’s the people at Alfa that she loves about her job, too. She says Alfa has given her the opportunity to spend her career with a company that does what it says it’s going to do. She says, “How many people can say they are surrounded by coworkers and leaders that are open, supportive and rowing in the same direction?” The Alfa family is a true community, and this is one of our company’s Core 4 values – faith, family, community and integrity.
Susie gets to see our Core 4 lived out every day. “Part of my job involves doing “stay interviews” with employees once they’ve reached their one-year anniversary with Alfa.” She says, “One of the overwhelming themes I hear in these discussions is how Alfa’s culture is unlike anywhere else they’ve ever worked. They align with our Core 4, feel they are part of a team and are Alfa’s best brand ambassadors.”
