BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (March 2, 2021) – The Birmingham Organizing Committee for The World Games 2022 today announced Alfa Insurance® as the newest corporate partner to join The World Games 2022 team.
As part of the partnership, Alfa and The World Games 2022 will announce the Alabama High School Male and Female Athlete and Coach Of The Year in conjunction with The Alabama High School Athletic Association during Athletes’ Night on July 12, 2022.
As an outgrowth of the Alabama Farmers Federation, Alfa Insurance Companies began in 1946 to provide quality fire insurance to Federation members, who were primarily farmers. Since then, Alfa has grown to offer an excellent array of insurance coverages including life, property and automobile to its clients and has also become known for superior customer service. Alfa and its affiliates now provide insurance and other financial services to more than 1 million customers in 11 states.
“Alfa has a long history of supporting youth sports, including an ongoing sponsorship of the Alabama High School Athletic Association,” said Alfa Insurance President and CEO Jimmy Parnell. “To honor some of our state’s best athletes during a once-in-a-lifetime event like The World Games is an incredible opportunity. This will be a lifelong memory for those athletes and for those of us at Alfa as well.”
The World Games 2022 CEO Nick Sellers said his staff is thrilled to have Alfa, a mainstay of the Alabama business community, on board.
“Alfa is as Alabama as a company can get,” Sellers said. “It’s a really special thing to have these companies that have been born and bred in our state, realize what The World Games is going to mean for our community and partner with us. I’m excited to see the impact of this partnership on athletes from our state, as well as those coming from around the world.”
Steve Savarese, executive director of the AHSAA, said being able to honor high school athletes and coaches on a stage like the one provided by The World Games is an opportunity that doesn’t come around often.
“These kids and coaches will never forget something like this,” Savarese said. “We’re extremely grateful to The World Games and Alfa for putting this together. Involving local athletes and coaches in a global event like The World Games shows how committed the organizing committee is to the community they are serving.“
With the announcement, Alfa joins a strong list of local and national brands partnering with The World Games 2022. The full list of corporate partners can be viewed HERE.
